Maywood Studio Collab (with FREE DOWNLOADABLE PATTERN!)
Hey y’all! It’s been a while since I’ve written a blog entry, and though I intend to correct that in the coming new year, I HAD to jump on and give you all this amazing shoulder/crossbody bag pattern to try! I drafted this some time ago, but I most recently used it as part of a social media collaboration with Maywood Studio (@maywoodstudio on Instagram).
Maywood Studio is a wholesale textile manufacturer and leading fabric supplier for the quilting and craft industry. It was launched in 1995 to provide high-quality quilting cottons sold exclusively through independent retailers. Maywood Studio has remained a family-owned company and is entering its third decade of designing and manufacturing 100% cotton textiles.
This bag was so much fun to make using the Gelato set from Maywood Studio. The gradients are absolutely immaculate. They are vibrant and saturated and SOOOO gorgeous! Using this pattern I was able to use the color shifting across multiple segments, which makes for a very dynamic appearance. AND it’s double sided! The bag making instructions can be found on my old Youtube video below:
Follow along with the tutorial above if you’d like a hand in bringing this pattern to life! Its pretty simple, but it does take a little dexterity and determination (especially if you are just starting out!) And you can make the whole bag with just a couple of yards of fabric, if that!
Print the patten full size on three sheets of 8.5” x 11” paper, tape the edges together, and for the crossbody/adult size, add the strap addition that is included on page 1. You can make additional adjustment to this pattern as you are cutting the pieces - you can make your bag larger, longer, wider, whatever you like!
