The Little Iron That Could

You may find it surprising to know that the question I get asked MOST often after I’ve posted a new craft tutorial or sewing WIP is “WHERE’D YOU GET THAT IRON?!” It seemed to pop up almost daily in the earlier days of Mister Larrie in fact. This precious little yellow mini project iron caused quite a stir for me! And it’s truly no wonder - from the bold, cheery color to its minuscule size (not to mention its capabilities) my viewers continue to be curious about it.

Well! For the record, it’s an Oliso M2Pro Mini Project Iron. And I’m going to tell you everything I know about it!

This iron is pretty loaded, especially if you crave something small and versatile in your studio. First off, It heats up in less than 30 seconds. THIRTY SECONDS! It has an 8-foot long, 180-degree swivel cord, which means less tangling and more room to move around. It also has universal voltage, a precision-tip soleplate, for tight spots and small details, and it comes with a high temperature silicone rest/storage foot, which helps keep you safe AND organized.

This iron details for around $70 at your favorite craft supply store. I have definitely found it to be worth the cost. I purchased mine (in yellow, but they’ve got four SUPER cute color options!) almost exactly two years ago and I can’t imagine my studio without it.

I’ve thrown a lot of praise at this little iron! But I will also say that it is not without at least one minor con. I find that the general grip of the iron can sometimes feel inadequate. It doesn’t have a traditional handle, so you just grasp the top portion, which fits nicely enough in the hand. However, I find the indentations are not deep enough, thus some days I feel I have to readjust my grip more often than I’d like. I wonder if it might just been the size of my my hands? I’m not sure. It is far from a serious issue in my studio in any case.

So that’s my little iron!

I recently had the pleasure of meeting the Oliso team in person at Quiltcon! We had a lovely chat, and I’m hopeful that we can work together soon. I will keep you all posted on that.

AND! I am finally welcoming a full-size version of this iron into my studio. I’m pretty sure I ordered purple, but we will see for sure when it arrives this week!

So, are you interested in either of these irons? Let me know, and be sure to click the Oliso banner to check out the details!
