Brother Sent Me A Box!

OKAY - it’s finally here! Brother (yes, THAT Brother - the sewing company I’ve been using for my whole life) sent me a box just in time for national craft month, and I’m going to open it with you!

Before I get into the goodies, I just want to restate that Brother is just one of those brands that has been around my entire life (and well before, I am aware! Brother is over 100 years old!) If you know me at all, you know I am a fan of creative competitions like Project Runway, which Brother sponsored for so many years. Seeing those amazing designers and sewists working on the same brand machines as me made me feel like part of a community, even before I began sharing content as Mister Larrie. I felt like I was part of a club of cool people who turned thread into magic, with a little help from Brother!

Having an opportunity to work with and connect to creative brands like Brother means that visibility for black content creators like myself may be changing. Perhaps our crafting community at large is growing and learning to make space for more faces that look a little different. I don’t know - maybe I’m just a name on a list . But I like to think that life is maybe a little more magical than that.

Anyway. Back to this box!

I’ve got some really great goodies here, all aimed at promoting the art of scrapbooking for this National Craft Month. Scrapbooking! I never saw it coming. But I am not mad about it at all. In fact, I used to teach scrapbooking classes when I was a barista in college! I worked at a local coffee shop called “Scrapbook Heaven & Coffee Creations” and it was a scrapbook supply store/cafe. In fact, this may have been my first real job ever. Time really flies.

In my box I received:
Brother ColAura Photo and Label Printer (with refills)
Brother P-Touch Embellish Elite Ribbon and Tape Printer (with refills)
Barefoot Dreams Custom Embroidered CozyChic Socks
Nuts & Bolts Paper Co. Custom Memory Book
Sooez 3-Compartment Zippered Pencil Case
Gelly Roll Metallic Pens
Mr. Pen Decorative Edge Craft Scissors
as well as some cute stickers, double-sided tape, and links to tutorials for the printers!

As a former scrapbooker I am definitely jazzed about using these new tools to do some keepsaking! I really want to try the ribbon printer ASAP - I don’t use ribbon all that much but I LOVE tiny details wherever I can add them. Not to mention, there is something very Y2K about the mini printer, and that excites me.

Stay tuned for more about these products, and a look at me actually trying some of them!
